Ian Fleming published 14 books about the secret agent. Here they are.

Thunderball (1961)
The Spy Who Loved Me(1962)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1963)
You Only Live Twice (1964)
The Man With the Golden Gun (1965)

Unlike the movies, the Ian Fleming novels follow a certain timeline, and are best read in the order that they are published. however, there are three other authors who have written James Bond novels.

Kingsley Amis wrote one novel. But he used a psueydonym. As Robert Markham, he published Colonel Sun in 1968.

John Gardner wrote 14 novels.
License Renewed (1981)
For Special Services (1982)
Icebreaker (1983)
Role of Honour (1984)
Nobody Lives Forever (1986)
No Deals, Mr Bond (1987)
Scorpius (1987)
Win, Lose or Die (1989)
Brokenclaw (1990)
The Man From Barbarossa (1991)

And Raymond Benson published 6 Novels

Doubleshot (2000)
Never Dream of Dying (2001)

Charlie Higson started a new series, Young Bond. It begins when James is somwhere around the age of 12 (sorry kids, no sex in the books . . . yet.):
Silverfin (2005)
Blood Fever (2006)

Holy moly I thought that by now they had run out of ideas for movies or something! They've got a lot of stories to go through it looks like. Which ones haven't you read yet?

I have to admit that the only James Bond movie I ever watched was For Your Eyes Only. And I will further admit it was because of the killer song at the beginning. Sheena Easton nailed it in my opinion. Apparently they held a talent contest in which the winner would get to sing this song, and she won and it jump-started her career. She's got some pipes, though she made a few blunders (teaming up with Prince torpedoed her career, I think).

Are you interested at all in reviewing the songs from Bond movies? I think For Your Eyes Only was best, followed by Nobody Does it Better. Madonna's song was a bit of a trifle, ok to listen to but soon forgotten. And just because she sang the opening song and played a fence instructor in what you're saying is the worst bond movie, these things do not make her a "Bond Girl" like she claimed and bragged about. Bond connoisseurs like yourself know this to be true.

Sorry I'm commenting so far down on your blog. I'm just getting antsy for a new post from you. You write so well.

*love, AK*
